joe jonsme created a new topic ' Rear Mud / Wet Weather Tyre' in the forum. 2 weeks ago

Hello,

As my local trails start to fall to pieces I've switched my front tyre to the trusty Bontrager Mud X 2.0. However, I've hit the point where my rear tyre isn't really handling the conditions (pretty much no grip on anything wet and they get completely filled with mu). I considered going with the 1.8 version of the Mud X on the rear but I've read that it's not particularly good at handling different surfaces, especially rocks and roots, which I do come across with regularity (mostly XC in the winter). I've had a look around and come up with the following options:
Panaracer Fire XC Pro 1.8 - Edit: Unsuitable.
Maxxis Beaver 2.0 - Apparently let down by thin sidewalls / not particularly resilient.
Maxxis Medusa 1.8 - Lots of people say that it's no good on anything other than mud.
Continental Mud King 1.8 - Expensive, apparently better for full on mud than mixed surfaces.
Michelin Wild Mud 2.0 - Supposedly great at multiple surfaces... but I can't actually find one to buy.
Schwalbe Dirty Dan 2.0 - Edit: Not really an XC tyre. Anyone got any thoughts on these or other options?

joe jonsme created a new topic ' Is Mud clear signature for CDIFF?' in the forum. 2 weeks ago

Hello,

I had a bad cdiff infection back in 2009. I lost about 20 pounds, was feverish and was really sick. Anyway after 2 rounds of flagil, it cleared up. What struck me back then was the nature of the diahrea. It was like a mud pile off to the right side of the toilet. I had been fighting IBS like issues prior, but had found that cutting sugar from my diet helped immensely. Then like 6 months later CDIFF struck. At the time I thought it was just IBS until the fever and sick feeling really took hold. Anyway, my IBS seemed to just get worse recently, and I had a few cases of 'mud' again. So I went back to the DR fearing CDIFF. Low and behold it's back. (No fever or sickness yet)
So I'm curious:
1) Is that mud type symptom a good tell of cdiff? (Seems so to me)
2) Does anyone think that IBS type sugar intolerance issues, are related to CDIFF at all? (was that an early sign of impending CDIFF?)

joe jonsme created a new topic ' Stuck in mud and detracked crits' in the forum. 2 weeks ago

Hello,

With all the RNG in terms of accuracy and unit damages, I really feel these 2 crits in particular have no part in this game. "Stuck in mud" and "detracked" are random crits that will totally immobilize a unit for a full 90 seconds. This can be extremely devastating in a game opener, where if say your AA is randomly hit with this crit they won't be able to assist your starting forces at all. Or a superheavy is hit with it, leaving it extremely vulnerable and immobile for a full minute and a half. I feel Eugen won't outright do away with these crits, but since they're more pronounced in lower player games (like 1v1), maybe they could remove these crits just for ranked play? Or at least nerf "stuck in mud" and "detracked" from a 90 second immobilization period to something like 30 seconds?

joe jonsme created a new topic ' Need help getting rid of the "mud pit" in my yard' in the forum. 2 weeks ago

Hello,

So, I have a deck in my back yard. It's great and not the problem. The problem is when you get off of the deck. Every spring when the snow melts or it rains in the summer we get what we call the Mud Pit just off of the deck. Here is a pic. Fortunately a lot of the mud/slush had dried, so it doesn't show well in the pic. Of course the dog wouldn't move for the pics, hehe.
The hubby and I think a brick patio would be an attractive solution as well as functional. The problem is that he will be gone for the summer, so it will be left up to me. I think I can do it, but I've never done anything like this before. I'm trying to see if my little brother can come for a visit and lend a hand. He's good for manual labor if nothing else, hehe. As far as I know he's not done this before, but I think we could figure it out. I've bought a couple of books and done some research online, so I think I've got it mostly figured out. It would be roughly 600 sq. feet. MS paint doctored pics for the layout we are thinking of are pics 7 and 8 from the link above. Sorry for the links, but I'm still new to the boards and couldn't figure out how to post the pics. I'm hoping that someone here has some experience with this type of thing and can give me some tips. The main thing I worry about is accounting for slope and drainage. The rest doesn't sound so bad, just a lot of work. Any help is really appreciated.

joe jonsme created a new topic ' Offline.....MUD?' in the forum. 3 weeks ago

Hi,

Ok so asking for a game offline and putting MUD in the same sentance is a contradiction.Never the less, while I like MUDs, I don't like massively multiplayer MUDs, nor am I always able to connect online to play a MUD.So, are there any "offline MUDs" out there? I'm thinking of a dynamic Zork offline, for the most part.I'm looking for something that I can compile myself since the laptop I want to use this on is OS X.Any ideas? Does such a thing even exist in any form?

Please help.
